Green Container Carriers

In September 2020, CMA CGM, a French Container Carrier Company (and the fourth largest in the world by capacity) set the record of being the first container carrier company to build and launch a mega container carrier. The company launched the largest LNG-powered container vessel in the world, the CMA CGM Jacques Saade. The Jacques Saade has a capacity of 23,000 TEU containers. In addition to it, CGM CMA has ordered another eight number of these Ultra Large Container Carriers (ULCC), with the same configuration as the Jacques Saade. These are meant to be operational by 2022.
The company took this initiative in order align with the global drive towards a greener earth.
