Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) is one of the top three shipbuilding companies in South Korea alongside Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries. The company specializes in the construction of both commercial and naval vessels. - 10, 18,000 TEU capacity container ships for A.P. Moller-Maersk Group
- $1.07 billion contract to build three submarines for the Indonesian navy. It is also the first exports of submarines from South Korea.
- Contract to build 15 advanced LNG Carriers capable of ice-breaking for the Russian company- Yamal LNG. These would be used to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Russian Arctic.
The company is also a leading in the development of robotic suits- exoskeleton. The focus of this development is their workforce, particularly those handling heavy steel parts used in shipbuilding. The aim is to enhance the workers efficiency at carrying out tedious tasks.
